Office 365

We are excited to announce that School of Medicine email and calendar will migrate to Office 365 in June 2017. Check this page often for important updates.

Office 365Why Office 365?

  • Access to our resources from anywhere, on any device
  • Significant increases in storage capacity
  • Access to Office applications that promote collaboration and communication
  • Improved security and support

To prepare for the migration, look for communication in the coming weeks from School of Medicine IT and your local IT staff to ensure that you are ready to migrate.

Step 1: Upgrade older versions of Microsoft Office

To fully enjoy all the features of Office 365, it is highly recommended to update to the latest version of Microsoft Office. Visit this link for a list of compatibility issues with older version of Office.

Not sure what version of Office you have? Visit this link for instructions on how to find your Office version.

In preparation for the Office 365 migration:

  • Windows Users: The majority of Windows users will receive the latest version of Office through managed deployment (SCCM). After work on Tuesday, May 16th users should log out of their computer but leave it on!  This will allow the upgrade to run automatically after business hours, as a restart may be required.  If your computer is off at the scheduled upgrade time, the upgrade will run in the morning when you boot your computer up.  There is no other action needed. Note: If you did not see any changes Wednesday morning, the deployment will run again Wednesday and Thursday evening. Please leave your computer on to receive the update.
  • Mac Users: Click here for step-by-step instructions for using the self-service portal to install Office 2016 and JAMF Pro.

Step 2: Change the username on your mobile device before your migration

If you access email on your mobile device, change your username to For instructions, please go to the Office 365 Setup help page.

Step 3: Update email account settings

Update your email account settings so that the username is For instructions, please go to the Office 365 Setup help page. Note: settings for Apple Mail, on OS versions 10.11 or below can only be updated the morning after your migration.

Step 4: Please plan to be on campus on your migration day

School of Medicine users will be migrated in June 2017. A more detailed migration schedule is coming soon. If you know you will be out on your migration day, please inform your local IT support staff. Click here for more information about what to expect on your migration day.

Upcoming Communication

You will receive several more reminders about the transition as we get closer to June. Each will provide additional information about what to expect and the anticipated impact.

We thank you in advance for your help and participation!
