Set Up Exchange Mail on iPhone

Access your UNC Exchange account on an iPhone.

An Apple iPhone or iPod Touch running at least version 2.0 software is required for Exchange ActiveSync.
  1. To configure your iPhone for your Exchange account, go to the Settings iPhone 1 app and choose Mail, Contacts, and Calendars.

    iPhone 2
  2. Tap Add Account…. When you are presented with a list of account choices, choose Microsoft Exchange.

    iPhone 3
  3. In the Exchange screen, use the following credentials:
    • Enter your published e-mail address (look up at http://dir.unc.edu; for most users, it is firstname_lastname@med.unc.edu).
      • Note: Some users may need to use onyen@ad.unc.edu for this field, instead of their published address.
    • Domain: ad.unc.edu
    • Username: ONYEN
    • Password: ONYEN password
    • Description: Enter a name for the account (ex., Exchange Mail). By default, the description will be Exchange.

    iPhone 4
  4. Tap Next.
If you get an Unable to Verify Certificate pop-up, just tap Accept. The iPhone simply wasn’t able to reach the Exchange ActiveSync server automatically based on your e-mail address.
  5. After it verifies your Exchange account information, a new field called Server will appear. Enter outlook.unc.edu as the server, then tap Next.

    iPhone 5
  6. After it verifies your Exchange information once more, tap Done to save your changes.
